The Dongnang Youth Art Festival and Dongnang Youth Art Camp are held each summer for high school students with a passion for art. Both events are education systems provided prior to entering the school, so they are classified as a preliminary program of Seoul Institute of the Arts. In particular, The Dongnang Youth Art Festival supports students preferring to enter an art university or to pursue work in the field of art. As such, it gives them the opportunity to experience the passion and dream of creating art, through competition with others. This festival represents a unique curriculum as well as long lasting tradition and history in various genres.

Started in 1962, The Dongnang Youth Art Festival has produced many artists, and supported them in one way or another, to make them into big names in the field of cultural arts over the past 50 years in Korea. Dong-Hwan Jeong, He-Do Lee, Sang-Joong Kim, and Mi-Ryung Jo are all actors and actresses who at one time participated in this festival. In addition, director Jin Jang, singer Maya, and a great number of other celebrities took their first steps in their careers beginning with this festival. The competition pursues harmonization between media, tradition and modern era, art and science, and with global world with motif of ‘harmonization.’ The contest is made up of 10 sections: plays, musicals, literature, advertising, design, choreography, traditional instruments, photography, videography, and interactive content. Individual prize winners from The Dongnang Youth Art Festival are granted extra credit when applying to Seoul Institute of the Arts, and grant prize winners in each section are exempted from paying one semester of tuition if they enter Seoul Institute of the Arts.

On the other hand, Dongnang Youth Art Camp does not take the form of a contest like The Dongnang Youth Art Festival. It consists of five sections: acting classes (5 nights and 6 days), video classes (3 nights and 4 days), music classes (1 night and 2 days), photography classes (1 night and 2 days), and special videography classes (2 nights and 3 days), Dongnang Youth Art Camp is only available to Korean high school students and graduates. Camp participants are granted an opportunity to register for lectures given by professors at Seoul Institute of the Arts and to receive advice and support from experts regarding their future career, by means of a systematic, stable education program. Sharing ideas and information with peers who are pursuing their own dreams in a similar field can help students understand their genre and earn a great sense of achievement through practice. This is the biggest advantage of the Dongnang Youth Art Camp.
