Global CultureHub
Seoul Institute of the Arts established a CultureHub in New York and Los Angeles, two major world cities for culture, to lead the incorporation of traditional Korean art into global art. A remote virtual studio was installed at LaMaMa Great Jones Studio, an experimental theater company at Off-Off Broadway in New York, California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in America, Culture, Art & convergence center in Namsan, and ATEC by using Tele-Presence preparing for a space for education and creation of new art forms through a global CultureHub network. Seoul Institute of the Arts will expand the scope of its business to Asia and Europe by establishing CultureHub studios and developing students into global artists through collaborations with artists known in the world.
Purpose
The culture of modern society is developed through creative awareness and incorporation of global cultural phenomena based on traditional culture. In this respect, what are needed are new values of perspective on the creation and acceptance of culture in the world for globalization. Furthermore, global culture must be developed by experimentally incorporating the contents, form and technology based on diverse cultural exchanges and uniqueness of traditional culture in modern culture art education and industry.
Our school established a CultureHub in the name of Seoul Institute of the Arts in major culture spots of the world to reinforce the globalization and competitiveness of education through cultivation of creative materials and personnel in cultural arts. We hope to do this by exchanging contents and technology of Korean traditional cultural art with the contents, form, and technology of global cultural art.
