Seoul Institute of the Arts, grounded in its founding philosophy, has led the way in promoting the independence and globalization of Korean arts and culture as a higher education institution dedicated to cultivating creative global artists with a strong cultural consciousness and original imagination.
As we move beyond the 50th anniversary of our founding and into a new era of vision and innovation, Seoul Institute of the Arts embraces its mission to contribute more profoundly to the prosperity of the nation and humanity—not only through high-quality arts education but also by establishing a firm ethical foundation.
In this spirit, all members of the Seoul Institute of the Arts—including faculty, staff, and students—commit to fulfilling their individual duties and responsibilities as members of an educational community, in order to respond faithfully to the evolving demands of our time.
In an era of rapid change in the fields of education and the arts, general moral standards and educational ethics must be redefined in a rational and healthy manner.
Accordingly, Seoul Institute of the Arts hereby proclaims the 'Code of Ethics of Seoul Institute of the Arts', reaffirming its legal and ethical values and fulfilling its social obligations and moral responsibilities as an educational institution.
President
- Represents the institute community and faithfully fulfills responsibilities to the local community and the nation by upholding the founding philosophy and striving to achieve the university's educational goals through overall leadership and supervision of administration
- Oversees and manages all administrative functions to ensure that the institute’s core missions—artistic creation, education and research, and community service—are carried out effectively
- Protects the rights and status of faculty members and works to enhance autonomy and creativity in the field of arts education
- Protects the rights and status of staff members while promoting the development of professional competencies to maintain a high standard of administrative services
- Creates a supportive educational environment that fosters both academic achievement and character development, nurturing globally minded creative artists with integrity
- Fulfills the responsibility of building an exemplary university community equipped with the best possible conditions for artistic creation, education, and research
Faculty Members
- Respect the dignity of students as educators in an institute of specialized arts education and dedicate themselves to nurturing creative artists with sound character
- Possess advanced expertise in arts creation education and, based on the founding philosophy, strive with autonomy and diligence in teaching and mentoring to cultivate creative global artists with an independent cultural awareness and original imagination
- Guarantee students’ dignity and rights to the fullest extent and do not discriminate against them on the basis of nationality, race, socioeconomic status, region of origin, or school attended; in particular, refrain from any speech or behavior that causes sexual discomfort or discrimination, including all forms of sexual harassment prohibited by law
- Uphold research ethics with academic integrity, avoiding unethical or illegal acts such as copyright infringement, plagiarism, improper citation, or data manipulation, and dedicate themselves to ethical and creative research, artistic creation, and scholarly activities
- Actively participate in service activities requested by the institute, local community, and nation, contributing the expertise gained through arts creation education and research for the public good
- Recognize the roles of staff and students as members of the institute community and respect their autonomy in work and academic activities
- Exercise their rights and responsibilities to participate in the organization and operation of the institute to build an optimal community for arts creation, education, and research, and ensure that all forms of educational activities comply with general educational standards and norms
Staff Members
- Serve as the backbone of institute administration, performing creative management that leads change and advancement based on professionalism, pride, mutual trust, and cooperation among members
- Demonstrate professionalism required in educational administration as well as integrity expected by society, striving to create optimal conditions for arts creation education
- Comply with all relevant laws and regulations in their duties and contribute to the institute’s development through ethical and innovative administration by managing resources efficiently and fairly
- Approach tasks with sincerity and uphold a spirit of educational administrative service to support faculty and students in their creative and research activities and ensure the smooth operation of optimal arts education programs
- Recognize their role as members of the institute community and dedicate themselves to continuous self-improvement to enhance professional competence in their respective work areas
Students
- Based on the principles of creativity, sincerity, and cooperation, dedicate themselves to cultivating proper character and acquiring advanced professional skills to become artistic talents who will lead the future global arts
- Approach their studies with diligence and creativity to grow into arts professionals demanded by future society
- Act with courtesy toward faculty and staff as members of the institute community, respect the dignity of their peers, and actively participate in artistic creation and volunteer activities both inside and outside the institute to uphold its honor
- Conduct all forms of educational activities, including creative practice, assignments, assessments, and examinations, with ethical conscience and morality as guiding principles, committing to honest and sincere campus life
