'Spirit of Art' of Seoul Institute of the Art, Revival of Energy-Spirit-Substance
Culture Art & Industry Convergence Center is the Creative Development Center with new concept that can be an art media itself.
We will revive our art sprit once again, start with Culture Art & Industry Convergence Center built on Namsan ground, the foundation of Seoul Institute of the Art's spirit. Seoul Institute of the Arts, had 51th anniversary in 2013, pursuing Independence and Globality, making an idea that expressing Cultural Art in the world. Making the relationship between Ansan Campus and Culture Art & Industry Convergence Center in Namsan connected, circulated, integrated and through that, making global high-quality contents with creative experiments and collaborations as a affiliated hospital and Medical College. Through Field-focused creation education and the Support for Research on Industrialization of Culture and Arts, lead convergence among culture, art, industry and challenge to new form arts creation. Based on time, place, rhythm, energy, making a collision between art and advanced technology to find new creation methods, and also developing innovative paradigm, suggest direction of future art.
Culture Art & Industry Convergence Center has six floor, consisted of D-cave(basement connected with 1st floor), A-studio(4th floor connected with 5th floor), gallery, residency for artists, incubating center, office.
Especially D-cave and A-studio, used independently and also can be linked and used in a new way.
dCave (Digital Cave)
dCave is a black box style place, which has split-level structure with basement and 1st floor. It can be used in theater, also lab that can be used in experiments of various art.
H beam, and 24 motors installed upside can exceed the place limit, and it can cover small shows from advanced media shows.
Also, dCave is packed of D&B, Behringer Sound effect system and high-spec projector of Digital Projection, Watch Out so it can support exquisite stage effects.
In Addition, it have a networking system that can share and split audio/video sign so it can be a great canvas for artists who wants to make new form show.
aStudio(All Studio)
aStudio at the 4-5th floor is a multi studio packed with various facilities(video, sound effects, editing).
The control room has a efficient system that can control sound effects, videos, telepresence well and using it, it can help to make unlimitable art work. For example, player in dCave can control the light in aStudio at the same time or filmed video using aStudio's blue screen can project dCave's screen at the same time.
aStudio is packed of blue screen for croma shooting and silk screen best for 3D shooting, 3 EMG range SONY 320K camera so it has efficient shooting production. And also big smart touch screen(200 inch) can used in various occations like workshop, seminar.
Programs
Culture Art & Industry Convergence Center is developing it self concretely to place of practical creation, place of realization, place of sharing through innovative management and creative participation making horizontal, vertical growth constantly, based on following 4 cultural art development indicators.
- Art Making: To make a new Art form, converging various majors and media and through that, producing hybrid art constantly and supporting experiments and studies finding innovative possibility of cultural art creation through various trials and new art grafts.
- Education: Culture Art & Industry Convergence Center surpass the school curriculum, managing specific Cultural Art Program and Technical Director training program that can produce Professional Artist.
- R&D: Constant Art Creation Work needs new techniques, and make it real using various channel(professionals, artist residency) to study and make it real.
- Community: For domestic and foreign artist, open the center for creation place and hosting creation business so they can recognize Culture Art & Industry Convergence Center as an experimental place and also make specific brand through cultural art program, set a cultural art industry portfolio.
