Admissions Guide for International Students

Introduction

In 1962, playwright and theater director, Chi-Jin Yoo built the first private theater dedicated to the performing arts and began the country’s first drama school. The Institute is committed to preserving the artistic identity of Korea by nurturing talented young artists with the age-old traditions and exploring new ways of expression. SeoulArts has been leading the Korean Wave for over five decades and creating the next Korean Wave.

Process from the Associate in Fine Arts through the Bachelor of Fine Arts Programs

Seoul Institute of the Arts offers both Associate in Fine Arts Program (AFA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts Program (BFA). The students, who have entered the AFA program, receive training in the artistic field of their choice as well as liberal arts education. The AFA Program (3 years) offers vocational education for the fundamental knowledge and skills in the arts. The BFA degree program offers professional education to develop the expert knowledge and skills through a one year program of intensive training and interdisciplinary production.

Eligibility for Application

Applicants must either hold or be expected to hold a high school diploma (or equivalents). Those who meet either one of the conditions in the box below must hold a high proficiency in Korean ‐ TOPIK level 3 or a higher grade.

  • The student must be a non-Korean with non-Korean parents. If the student or any one of the student’s parents has dual citizenship with Korea, the student is NOT eligible for the International Students track.
  • Exception: A Taiwanese applicant with one parent of Taiwanese citizenship.
Students who have received their entire education outside of Korea Must have completed the entire primary and secondary education outside of Korea (12 years in total)

3rd place : 50% of Tuition
Enrolled Students International Students Scholarship GPA 3.0 or higher (Eligible for each semester) 50% of Tuition
Foreign Language Scholarship TOPIK level 4 or higher KRW 1,000,000

Dormitory

  • Accommodates 498 students
  • Dormitory Fee: KRW 1,650,000 won(per semester)
  • Foreign students receive first priority for dormitory space
