An organization dedicated to the realization of its philosophy of arts education The promotion of Korean culture and arts, and the nurturing of professional artists, can be achieved by managing and administering “a dedicated, professional arts educational organization.” Seoul Institute of the Arts has embodied this philosophy and produced skilled artists and master artisans in every field of the arts.
The establishment of the Ansan Campus in 2001 divided the school’s educational space from its cultural space. Since that time, the school’s old campus at Namsan has served as an art center that provides actual performance opportunities for students at the campus. The old campus is being used for on-site production for current students and internships and art activities for graduates. It also houses a center for exchange between the academy and society, a site for cooperation between school and industry, and a location for the school’s art and business activities. A high-speed computer network was set up to connect the Namsan and Ansan Campuses, linking the separate functions of these campuses to enable educational synergy. The Dongnang Art Center operates a performing arts organization, a drama center and other artistic spaces, and culture and arts companies. Thus, artists who have graduated from the school are provided with promotional opportunities and current students are given apprenticeship training and provided with practical experience for developing creatively and professionally. At the same time, the center seeks to implement educational and art projects that connect industry and the academy and make use of new themes, techniques, and staff to create tangible and intangible benefits for the school.
